UN warns against rising greenhouse gases

The United Nations reported Monday that global warming gases from industrialized nations are on the rise again. The report comes on the same day that UK Prime Minister Tony Blair warned that climate change threatened the global economy.

Blair said that global warming could cost the equivalent of between 5 percent and 20 percent of the global gross domestic product each year. His views were based on a 700 page British government report released Monday.

Despite the Kyoto Protocol, industrialized nation greenhouse gas contributions have risen by 2.4 percent between 2000 and 2004.
