Tamil Tigers sink Sri Lankan naval boats
In a bold strike, Tamil Tiger insurgents in Sri Lanka sank two navy boats Thursday. They also attacked a ferry carrying about 700 troops off the northern coast, and a military ship off Point Pedro.
Colombo retaliated quickly claiming that it sank five rebel boats on the same day.
The attacks endangered Scandinavian ceasefire monitors and threatened to push the Sri Lanka into civil war.
Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam and government forces have increased attacks on one another recently in a dangerous escalation of violence.
