'Inconvenient Truth' conveys message of global warming on screen
Al Gore's documentary An Inconvenient Truth won the Humanitas Prize Wednesday which awards screenwriting that helps "liberate, enrich and unify society."
Gore's movie tells the story of global warming in terms that the lay person can understand. The candidate who should have been president shows glaciers and annual snowpacks that have been recorded for hundreds or thousands of years melting all over the world.
He also explains that most of the top 10 hottest years on record occurred only in the last decade. And that 2005, the year of killer hurricanes, was the hottest ever recorded worldwide.
An Inconvenient Truth should also get a boost from two studies just released that show the '05 hurricanes were intensified by global warming, and that the earth is likely hotter now than anytime in the previous 2,000 years.
