Hurricane Ernesto headed for Haiti
Ernesto grew to hurricane strength Sunday threatening Haiti's southeen coast with rain and strong winds.
Sustained winds measured 75 mph and as much as 20 inches or rain could fall in mountainous areas of Haiti causing flash floods.

Storm surge Sunday sent waves of 5 to 6 feet into homes on the Les Cayes shoreline.
The hurricane is expected to enter the open Gulf early this week where it could strengthen dramatically.
By the middle of next week, Ernesto will threaten the Gulf coast of the United States including possibly Katrina-ravaged New Orleans.
