Indian PM says Gandhi is model for world order
Singh is on a state visit and spent time making a pilgrimage to areas in and around Durban, the city that served as Gandhi's base of operations for more than two decades.
Gandhi founded the "Satyagraha" movement in India that advocated non-violent resistance against colonial rule.
After leaving South Africa, Gandhi helped lead the India's struggle for independence.
