Election sweep poses challenge to Democrats
Over the next few months, it will be interesting to see how the Democrats interpret their mandate after winning both chambers of the U.S. Congress in the recent poll.
Surveys of voters indicate that a strong majority were against the Iraq, yet neither party has any serious exit strategy. Government corruption also troubled voters and the Democrats will certainly come under greater scrutiny now that they are in a leadership position.

Presidential candidates for 2008 will begin announcing their campaigns shortly and their positions on Iraq will be watched closely.
The newly-elected Democrats are riding a wave now but they must act decisively if they hope to maintain momentum into the presidential elections. Otherwise, they will share the heat and anger now focused primarily on the Republicans.
