Obrador to launch civil resistance in Mexico

Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, runner-up in the July 2 presidential election said Sunday that he would launch a massive civil resistance campaign to force a vote recount.

Obrador said he lost the poll due to election fraud and is ready to mobilized his hundreds of thousands of supporters for peaceful demonstrations.

An election court will rule on Obrador's claims and declare a president-elect by early September.

Obrador has widespread support among Mexico's poor, and many feel that he could shut down the Mexican economy if he decides to take that route.
