Poll shows poverty reduction as main world objective
A nine-nation poll by TNS Emnid found that 44 percent of respondents believed poverty alleviation is the primary global concern.
The poll was conducted in Brazil, Britain, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, Russia and the United States.
Coming in second on the list of global problems was combating terrorism at 35 percent followed by environmental conservation at 33 percent.
Polling was conducted from Oct. 29 to Dec. 17, 2005 and the results were released by Bertelsmann Stiftung.
