Hyundai leapfrogs to no. 1 non-premium brand
Hyundai Motor Co. was the No. 1 non-premium brand in the United States, topping old champ Toyota according to the J.D. Power and Associates annual survey released Wednesday.
Traditionally known for its cheap prices rather than high quality, Hyundai has set its sights on becoming a top car maker in all respects.
Hyundai came in third overall behind Porsche and Lexus and just ahead of Toyota.
The Korean car manufacturer's performance was all the more impressive as they had just launched two new vehicles last year, the Sonata and Azera. New products usually result in lower rankings since it takes time to perfect the new cars.
