Two Turks hijack plane to protest pope's visit

Two Turkish hijackers forced a plane flying from Albania to Turkey to land in the southern Italian city of Brindisi to protest Pope Benedict XVI's planned visit to Turkey next month.

The hijackers are apparently unharmed and have agree to give themselves up.

They had managed to force their way into the pilot's cabin according to a report by CNN-Turk television.

Vatican sources said the Turkey visit will go on as scheduled.
