Climate change impacting EU biodiversity
European Union efforts to stem biodiversity loss by 2010 face serious threat from climate change according to a British report.
The report warned that shifting climate and rising sea levels threaten several species especially those less able to relocate to new habitats.
Among those threatened are the beech tree and a wading bird known as the curlew.
A combined European effort was recommended to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide. The report also warned that increased water demand could place pressure on a number of species.
